Republicans have been wrangling for more than a year over how exactly to handle the tea party movement, but now Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is bringing them under the big tent.
The House Administration committee, which usually takes days to approve something of this nature, approved Bachmann's request to create a House Tea Party Caucus in a day. It will certainly give the national movement a more official voice within the House Republican Conference.
Let's make this clear.. the "Tea Party Movement" is not a caucus, it's not a government "big tent" picture. Let's make this clear... the Tea Party members have not been happy with Republicans _Or_ Democrats.
So let's bring them in as a "republican" group and see how quickly we can corrupt them into the system that they've fought against time and time again?
The "tea party" movement doesn't have caucus members... if you fuck up on your promises to reduce govt.. then what? "But I'm a Tea Party Caucus member! I'm what they stand for..." Er.. no.
Now I should say I guess we should be glad it's Mrs. Bachmann, and not some McCain/Graham squishy. But I have _serious_ reservations about this move.
