The Presidential List...

As everyone knows, the "Presidential Scholar ranking of the 44 presdients" is out... and President Obama came in at 15..     Well, American Power decided to ask the question... "Who are those Presidential Scholars"?

Well, first off we know that Siena Research Institute put out the poll, much like they did in 2006, about President Bush.    And much like back then, the _research_ institute didn't identify any of the pollees.   (I"m not sure if it's as "unethical" survey sampling methodology. as AP suggests?  But it does make the overall feel "quesitonable".)

Well, after his firing off of questions, he got a response:

Just got off the phone with Professor Tom Kelly at Siena College. He told me the survey's "anonymous." He was was real nice. I asked if I could see the list of survey respondents. He said, "Well that's the thing. The survey is anonymous." I doubt Professor Kelly was up on things like Memeorandum. I asked about criticisms of left-wing bias at the poll, and he said, "Oh, I've heard things like that before." You think? Only a far-lefty could love a polling monstrosity like this. When I inquired a bit more about the identity of the respondents he said the reason for anonymity was designed to increase "objectivity."

So we have "no" idea of the leanings of the pollees  (especially considering FDR is at the top of the list), but we're supposed to just assume it's "objective"?   Uhuh.. rrright.

If anything, the poll should be retitled:    "Unfortunately liberal professors and political scientists don't think Obama's the best president of all time, but he's a lot better than those damn Republican presidents".

It'd be a little more "intellectually" honest.
