Republicans being "lackidasical" toward private intervention?

I am a bit surprised to see so many Republicans who are speaking out in favor of NASA, considering the SpaceX success.

Of course, the three senators have vested interest in NASA remaining the key player (I mean, it's FL, AL, and TX who give "weak praise".)..  But I am REALLY disappointed in Shelby's response:

As a nation, we cannot place our future spaceflight on one fledgling company's definition of success

Excuse me, Senator?  I thought that's what this country was founded on?  You know.

Yes, the project was delayed (as Senator Hutchinson noted).. but how many Govt projects have been delayed/postponed indefinitely due to things not working?

I love the fact that Hutchinson (no surprise) pissed off one of the companies that worked on the project, considering that they are based in Texas.

  It's called the "Entrepreneurial spirit!".

Or to quote astronaut Rusty Schweickart (apollo-9):

... I think it’s safe to say that SpaceX and the other commercial developers embody the 21st-century version of the Apollo frontier spirit.
