In his first year as GOP chairman Steele said he would give himself a grade of a “solid B.” He credits himself with raising $80 million, paying off senatorial and congressional committee debt, infusing state parties with money, creating a new Web presence, and winning governor’s races in New Jersey and Virginia.
“A B is not bad; I can do better,” he said.
I'm guessing everyone thinks they're on the Bell Curve?
- Let's see.. first he "agrees" that the GOP Convention looks like a "bunch of nazis"
- Embarasses himself with a "one-armed midget" comment.
- Chastised Rush Limbaugh and had to apologize
- Throws a MILLION dollars into the Scozzafava campaign (all the while, limiting the contributions to the Brown campaign to $50,000).
- Flipped his stance on abortion, because of who he was talking to.
- Says that "White Republicans are afraid of him" (Great unity there MS!)
- Continues to charge speaking fees.
- Stated that the party will not be able to "take control of the House" (great leadership for your troops, Mikey! "Okay Eagles, we can't win against Dallas, so we won't even take the field!")
- Tells critics to "Shut up!" (again, that "Great" debate skill that he was supposed to have)
Update: (Yahoo News) Looks like Steele's finally getting called on the carpet after his "GOP can't win the House" comments Note IMO the key paragraph:
Conspiracy theorists would say that Steele was a Democratic plant."Republicans at all levels have been working day and night to build a wave, and every time we turn around the guy standing on the surfboard is busy trying to collect admission to watch him ride," the aide said, arguing that "he has an agenda of his own that isn't reflected by the goals of the party as a whole."
Me?
I just say he's a moderate and an imbecile (something I said when he was first elected to the chair and personally considered him a HUGE mistake.).
Of course.. I almost a second paragraph:
Conservative? If he's a conservative.. the GOP is in SERIOUS SERIOUS trouble.Republicans said there's a growing concern that Steele is catering to conservative activists and others who may not have the party's best interests at heart. Steele mounted an unsuccessful bid for Senate in 2006, running as a moderate.
