.. can you imagine what it'll be like
after this court decision?
A federal appeals court struck down the Federal Communications Commission's indecency policy Tuesday, saying the agency's efforts to restrict the use of vulgar language on air were "unconstitutionally vague."
The decision was a major win for Fox Television, NBC Universal and other broadcasters who have complained that an FCC crackdown on fleeting obscenities was unfair and violated their First Amendment rights.
And all thanks to Bono...
The FCC policy came after Bono, singer in the band U2, uttered an expletive while accepting an award during a 2003 awards show on NBC. The FCC didn't fine NBC for the incident, but said that any utterance of a profanity on the air could lead to a fine.
A few years later, the FCC sanctioned Fox and other broadcasters for violating indecency rules after similar incidents in 2002 and 2003 of celebrities saying un-scripted profanities on live TV shows. Broadcasters challenged the FCC in 2006, arguing that the policy was unconstitutional.
FOX is just salivating at the chops for their new lineup.
